Good news from the City of Nyssa!! We have some funds being made available to us specifically for sidewalks around South Park! We are super excited, since this will help us further the amount of sidewalk we can put in! With those who have sponsored, we should be able to go from Reece Ave. to the Pavilion. So with the funds from the City, we'll start where the sidewalk ends by the bathroom and head North along S. 5th St. to the northeast corner. We will be putting in at least one ADA wheelchair-accessible ramp at the corner. Depending on how far the funds go, we'll head west along Reece Ave., hopefully meeting up with the sidewalk to the Pavilion. Of course, if we can get some more support from businesses and individuals, we'll be able to continue the sidewalk even farther! We'd love to make this a nice path for walking, wheelchairs, strollers, skateboards, etc.!
To date, we have 10 sponsors, including M&W, Munk Family Dental, and Idaho Power. Here is where you come in! We still need more sponsors (business or individual) to make the sidewalk go as far as possible. Each sponsor will be able to personalize their 4x8 foot sidewalk square when we pour the concrete. Think handprints, footprints, petprints! See our wish list for details.
New ADA Accessible Slope
If you haven't been to South Park recently, you'll be pleased to know that the ADA Accessible Slope has been completed!! Glenn Brothers Construction did a great job, as well as the Nyssa City Crew members, in preparing and pouring the concrete for inclines on both sides of the bathroom. Now, just imagine beautiful flowers, bushes, trees, etc., and a brightly colored facade on the bathroom itself and you'll have an idea of what we have planned for this area!
